Captain had a quick glance at everyone.
He knew he had no choice.
He heaved a sigh.
“My business in town is ruined,” he started relating the story.
“That’s because you are lazy,” an angry Cyril interrupted.
“Let him talk Cyril,” Papa deer stopped Cyril.
Captain resumed his story.
“A friend of mine and I are planning to open a shoe shop,” he said.
“I need money for that,” he continued.
“I have heard that Grandpa deer had some old gold coins,” Captain said looking down.
“So you came to steal my gold coins?,” responded a fuming Grandpa.
“Last week when all of you were in the farm I entered the house,” Captain went on talking.
“I took the box under Grandpa’s bed,” he said meekly.
“I thought the gold coins were there,” he continued.
“But it was just a big piece of wood, so I threw it away,” he added.
“Where did you throw it?” Grandpa shouted while getting up.
“In the meadow,” Captain replied softly.
“I have to go now. Cyril can you come with me to meadow now,” asked Grandpa walking up to door.
“The key to the gold coin locker was in that box,” he explained.
“No need to go there Grandpa, wait a second,” Chubby said smiling.
He dashed in to his room and returned.
“Here is your key,” he said and laid it on Grandpa’s hand.
Everyone looked at Chubby with perplexed faces.
